For Smokers

For Smokers
While doing research on cardiovascular disease .... i keep getting this message over and over again. Thought I'd share this with everyone.

The thing is .... after knowing facts like these ... can i make myself stop smoking.

==================
an estimated 17 million people die of CVDs each year. A substantial number of these deaths can be attributed to tobacco smoking, which increases the risk of dying from coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease 2–3 fold.

.... I cardiac events fall 50% in people who stop smoking and the risk of CVDs, including acute myocardial infarction, stroke and peripheral vascular disease, also decreases significantly over the first two years after stopping smoking.

.... smoking cessation is the most cost-effective intervention for patients with documented CVDs ...

Relay For Life 2007

This is a long post with pics but i want to share this with everyone.

This was a 16 hour walk (from 6pm Sat to 10am Sun) around a sports track at Bukit Jalil Stadium to:
- celebrate people who survived cancer
- give hope to people dealing with cancer
- to remember those who passed away from cancer

It was also for the care givers, family & frens of those with living with cancer.

Pammy's Advice On How To Quit Smoking Successfully

taken from my personal blog: http://scorpio-jerm.livejournal.com/
------------------------------------

first off .... Thanks to everyone who's expressed their support of my latest effort to quit smoking. Your words of encouragement mean a lot.

:-)

Pammy has been bugging me to read Allen Carr's Easyway to quit smoking and I've finally gotten round to borrowing it from Colin

she claims everyone whom she's given the book to (who wanted to quit smoking) has quit

.... her line of arguement that won me over was ... "why use will-power when this is a sure-fire method to stop smoking and stay off cigarettes."

reading the first few pages of the book ... Allen Carr claims this method has a 90% success rate

visiting the website, the method has testimonials from Richard Branson & Anthony Hopkins!!!

Hmmm .... i'm gonna give it a read and i'll keep my progress posted.

maybe this will finally help me stay off nicotine and stop shaoann from rolling his eyes and going "whatever"
